 LIST OF ISSUES

Affordable Housing
  • To build more community housing for low income citizens and the mentally ill. Getting the City of Ottawa to work with current Affordable housing programs, like the House of Salus, Causeway, Habitat for Humanity of Ottawa, etc.

  • To get people off the streets and out of shelters and work with non-profit organizations, i.e: United Way of Ottawa, and the Alliance to End Homelessness.

  • Working with private developers and current landlords to give low income citizens incentives on housing and improving on affordability.

Crown Assets Distribution Centre-933 Gladstone Avenue
  • Working with the city of Ottawa and other required levels of government along with possible private urban planning developers to redevelop the land into a public place.

  • Located on 13 acres of land, where I would like to have it redeveloped where it can be changed into a farmer's market that links to the current O-Train light rail tracks.

  • Have a youth drop-in centre (Boys and Girls Club of Ottawa) for local youth to go too, and receive support and counselling. Take the burden off the Youth Services Bureau that is located downtown. Build another space where local youth can go to interact with each other.

  • I would like to see the development of an arts court on this land.

Lebreton Flats Redevelopment
  • I would like to work with WindMill Developments and other levels of government and have the rezoning of their plan approved by city council.

  • Also, working with the citizens of Somerset ward, and incorporating the public's ideas for the redevelopment of the three million square feet of land (north side of Lebreton) that WindMill would like to redevelop at Lebreton Flats. I would like to see residential, commercial, or a major institution to allow a balance with the current Canadian War Museum.

  • Being able to work with the National Capital Commission and the other councillors to make Lebreton Flats a friendly and accessible environment to residents and visitors of Ottawa.

  • Working with local governments to open up the Chaudiere Falls to have public access, showing the world that Ottawa is a must see destination.

  • O-Train...I am backing the current Mayor's plan for the light rail project.

  • Listen to my constituents voices and concerns in working with future development pertaining to future growth in their community, in order to achieve sustainable growth.

  • Being a strong supporter of saving our green space and urban gardens for generations to follow.

  • Expanding our community centres and park facilities.

  • I am a supporter of the Ottawa River Action Plan.

  • Developing our parks and green spaces is a strong commitment of mine.

  • Working with the business community in developing solutions for our neighborhoods.

  • BIA Bank Street, Chinatown, BIA Preston Street, Sparks Street BIA, and etc...

  • Addressing issues with other local business groups with an open ear.
